چکیده
The aim is to investigate the analgesic effect of transcranial direct current stimulation(tDCS) on central neuropathic pain(CNP) in spinal cord contusive rat model. Twenty Sprague-Dawley rats(250±50 g, male) were used. Thoracic spinal cord(T10) was contused using New York University(NYU) spinal cord impactor. The animals were randomly assigned to two groups; GroupI: Nontreatment after SCI induction(n=10), GroupII: application of tDCS(0.1 mA, 20 min/time, 2 times/day, 5 days/6week) after SCI induction(n=10). Assess the effect of tDCS using the Basso Beattie Bresnahan(BBB) locomotor rating scales, Touch testTM sensory evaluator(TTSE), Plantar testafter contusion at the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th week and the immunohistochemistric response of c-fos in the thalamus, cerebral cortex after contusion at the 3rd, 6th week after SCI. The scores of BBB scales were significantly different from 3rdweek. TTSE were different significantly over time, but there were no differences at each evaluation times on between-measure time effects. Plantar test were different significantly over time and there were difference at the 4th, 6th week after SCI on between-measure time effects. Also, immunohistochemistric response of c-fos was reduced significantly from 3rd, 6th week after SCI in tDCS group compared with control group in thalamus and cortex. These results identified that tDCS of non-invasive therapeutic method may have beneficial analgesic effect on CNP after SCI with behavioral test and immunohistochemical test.

Effectiveness of transcranial direct current stimulation and visual illusion on neuropathic pain in spinal cord injury.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the analgesic effect of transcranial direct current stimulation of the motor cortex and techniques of visual illusion, applied isolated or combined, in patients with neuropathic pain following spinal cord injury. In a sham controlled, double-blind, parallel group design, 39 patients were randomized into four groups receiving transcranial direct current stim...
متن کاملAnalgesic Effect of Bumetanide on Neuropathic Pain in Patients With Spinal Cord Injury
Objectives: The current study evaluated the analgesic effects of bumetanide as an adjunctive in the management of neuropathic pain following spinal cord injury (SCI). The peripheral expression of Na-K-Cl cotransporter-1 (NKCC1) and K-Cl cotransporter-2 (KCC2) genes in polymorphonuclear lymphocytes (PMLs) was assessed as a possible biomarker indicating central mechanisms underlying the observed ...
متن کاملTranscranial Direct Current Stimulation in Neuropathic Pain
Neuropathic pain (NP) is one of the most common problems contributing to suffering and disability worldwide. Unfortunately, NP is also largely refractory to treatments, with a large number of patients continuing to report significant pain even when they are receiving recommended medications and physical therapy. Thus, there remains an urgent need for additional effective treatments. In recent y...

BACKGROUND Chronic neuropathic pain is one of the most common and disabling symptoms in individuals with spinal cord injury (SCI). Over two-thirds of subjects with SCI suffer from chronic pain influencing quality of life, rehabilitation, and recovery. Given the refractoriness of chronic pain to most pharmacological treatments, the majority of individuals with SCI report worsening of this condit...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Our aim was to update previous European Federation of Neurological Societies guidelines on neurostimulation for neuropathic pain, expanding the search to new techniques and to chronic pain conditions other than neuropathic pain, and assessing the evidence with the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) system. METHODS A systematic rev...
